What does the start of a New Year mean to you?

So we have said goodbye to 2018, the ups the downs, the magical moments and memories as well as the tough, harder times that the year brought. But just like that 2019 is here and the hope and promise of what a new year can bring has many of us dreaming of our goals and what we want to achieve. And there is no reason why you cant smash them all!

I’ve always loved New Years, I think its the idea of being able to start a fresh and leave behind the not so great moments of the past 12 months but also the hope that a New Year can bring things that you dream of. Many people find that this is the time for setting goals, whether it be fitness and health, personal and travel or business and career goals. I guess its a time that people feel so inspired to be a better version of themselves and I think that is part of the magic of beginning a New Year.

Every year I ask myself the same questions about that particular year. I do this as its nice to be able to look back and reflect before moving forward. Here are a few of the questions I ask myself.

What was your favourite memory?

What was your biggest achievement?

What would you like to do more of in the next year?

Who influenced you in a positive way?

What would you like to change about your life? (if anything)

The answers to these questions each year surprise me. It shows me how much you can learn and grow in just 12 small months. I’m very much an optimist and a positive person, I try not to focus on the negatives too much but not every year is easy and there are definitely hard, trying times for each and every one of us. By asking myself these questions it gives me a chance to really reflect and it also gives me time to stop and think “Am I on the right track?”

Why not ask yourself these questions, the answers may surprise you too.

Its easy to put pen to paper and write down your goals but it can be really hard to stick to them. That’s why its really important to make achievable and attainable goals. Id love to say Ill go to the gym 6 days a week but realistically its unattainable and ill soon realise that after a few weeks. However if I say 3 days then it would be a lot more manageable and therefore achievable. We don’t want to set ourselves up for failure. So if you do have a goal or a resolution bare this in mind.

For me 2018 was filled with many happy moments, we explored Australia as a family, Made some beautiful friendships, I watched my darling Rosie grow into this confident little toddler, and of course we welcomed our gorgeous baby girl Gracie into our lives recently which is the greatest gift by far. However 2018 was also challenging. Juggling work and Motherhood whilst navigating a difficult Pregnancy and saying goodbye to my wonderful Nanna.

So goodbye 2018 and welcome 2019. Reflect back on the year you had and whatever your goals are for 2019 may all your dreams come true! I hope the year ahead is filled with so much love, lots of laughs and a little bit of magic!
