Easing the snack time dilemma with Chobani Gimmies

Easing the snack time dilemma with Chobani Gimmies

Snacking snacking snacking. If my mischievous toddler had it her way then she would happily eat cookies all day everyday. Now i don’t mind the odd treat of course but I’d prefer her to have at least some nutritional value to her snacks. She is a pretty good eater to be honest which is great but snack time is always a battle. Why won’t she eat these delicious looking carrot sticks i spent ages chopping up? Or the fruit salad i made? Having something we both agree on would be ideal and ease the snack time dilemma!

This is where Chobani come in. Chobani are Australia’s number one yogurt brand, and they are launching Chobani Gimmies. They’re a new range of Greek Yogurt snacks bringing the fun back to yogurt. They are high in protein, with no preservatives, artificial flavours or colours. Whats not to love! Chobani Gimmies also combines authentic strained Greek yogurt with fun mixins – delivering Australian kids seriously good yogurt, with a silly amount of fun.

Here are some interesting facts from research commissioned by Chobani Gimmies:

  • Nearly half of pre-school parents feel pressure from other mums regarding snack time choices
  • 74% of parents have had trouble with their kids because of food choices
  • 60% of pre-school parents have had a fight with their child over what snack they can have
  • 79% of parents would be willing to give up 1-5 hours of sleep if it meant making snack time easier

Have you felt these pressures? I certainly have. There has been many a time i have reached for the cookies in order to have peace and quiet for more than 0.3 seconds or to curb the public meltdown. I have felt the stares from other parents as i gave my toddler a kinder egg or a chocolate freddo. That’s why when i heard about Chobani Gimmies i was so intrigued to find out more.

Chobani Australia Managing Director, Peter Meek, said: “Chobani Gimmies was co-created with Australian parents and kids to create a range that gets the tick of approval from both.”

“We worked hard to craft a range that ticks all the boxes. We recognised that parents and children don’t always agree when it comes to meals and snacks, and we wanted to challenge the idea that “good food” can’t be “fun food”. Parents will love that they’re made with Chobani low-fat Greek yogurt and kids will love the crazy flavours and wacky characters.”

“We had a lot of fun with our new range. From developing flavours that connote Aussie party food, like fairy bread, to working with kids to co-create the range of loveable Gimmies characters and their personalities. We’re so excited for kids to meet their new go-to snacking friends for fun.”

So the lovely people at Chobani sent me some to try and I must say i’m impressed. Fun flavours and Rosie loves the cool packaging and exciting mixins. The convenient packaging separates the Greek yogurt from the dry mix-in ingredients, which allows snackers to flip in their mix-ins. Making it an easy, mess-free snack to have at home or on-the-go!

They come in some seriously delicious and fun flavours.

  • Poppin Fairy Floss
  • Chocolate Crackle Crunch
  • Non-Stop Watermelon pop
  • Choc Chunk Cookie Dunk
  • Airy Fairy Bread
  • Rainbow Sprinkle Cone

I obviously couldn’t let Rosie try these alone and i must say they are tasty. So it is no surprise that i like them too!

So Mums and Dads, If you’re struggling for snack time solutions then give these a try. They will soon become a must have for your household! Pick some up from your local Woolworths, Coles and independent stores now.

A magical unicorn party…. on a budget!

A magical unicorn party…. on a budget!

There is no doubt that there is a new trend around. Everywhere I look there are UNICORNS!

Slippers, clothes, bags, jewellery and not to mention the delicious UNICORN food! Cakes, milkshakes, bagels and even coffee! It is a trend I have been loving so as it was approaching to Rosie’s first birthday I just knew exactly what the theme was going to be!

First up was DECORATIONS. In every shop I went to there was some form of fun unicorn decorations to be had! However it was KMART AUSTRALIA that supplied most of my goods. (KMART IS MY FAVOURITE!)

I knew I had to have these napkins the moment I saw them and at a great price of $2 per pack. Total Bargain and As for plates we went with this pretty pink, purple and silver pattern. Not technically unicorn but VERY dreamy.

I blew up some pink and white balloons and attached them to the ends of our Happy Birthday Banner and hung this up above our table. We enjoyed a bbq on the day as well as food with sprinkles! Fairy bread, cupcakes, marshmallows. Lots of sweet treats to be had. We managed to find many different Unicorn pieces that we could reuse for Rosie’s bedroom. Such as frames, light up box and dreamy sleepy eyes.

THEN THERE’S THE CAKE….A friend had volunteered her time to bake a cake for Rosie’s party. I was thrilled as she makes the most delicious grazing boards so knew this would be good. I didn’t expect just how good! Take a look at this nothing short of STUNNING unicorn cake which is covered in edible glitter. As good as it looked it tasted even better. WINNER. I know if I had of attempted this it would of failed as I’m no good in the kitchen. I do try though. If you would like Sarah to do a cake for a party in Sydney – Let me know!

Another addition to the party was this giant wooden photo prop that I made Rob make (he is so handy). I decorated it with wooden letter pack from Kmart (IS THERE ANYTHING THEY DON’T DO) and a pack of gems. I encouraged all our guests to stand behind and take photos so that we would have a nice keepsake to look back on. They turned out great!

We also decided to do our own cake smash shoot. I have seen some really creative shots and wanted ours very simple yet floral, and a little bit magical. I bought a Woolworth $4 sponge cake and topped it with whipped cream and sprinkles. I really wasn’t prepared for how messy this would get. Rosie just loved playing with the cake and within minutes it was everywhere. She just made a mess, didn’t really eat much. We bought a $3 Unicorn hairband (Kmart again) as her head piece. Usually she would rip it off but she was way too interested in the cake!

All in all the party went so well and we didn’t spend a fortune. You can find all of the goodies bought for Rosie’s party at Kmart Australia by visiting their website

Rosie had a wonderful party and so did we. It was so nice to celebrate her first year of life. I best get thinking for next year’s theme!

Magical Unicorns dust to you all!

Spooky ideas for you and your family to try this Halloween!

Spooky ideas for you and your family to try this Halloween!

Ok ok! I just love Halloween! The fun foods, crafty games and exciting costumes. It really is a spooktastic time of year for big kids and small!

This year i feel like i  have reallllly got into the spirit of things. It is Rosie’s first Halloween so why not go all out!

Here are some super spooky ideas for you and your family to try this Halloween.

We made these creepy Chocolate and Orange ice cream shakes finished off with squirty cream and Oreos! We used pipe cleaners and googly eyes to decorate the glasses and bought some fun Halloween straws from our local supermarket. They tasted seriously yum (i may or may not of drank both)

When i think of Halloween i think about PUMPKINS! We made a table of horrors finished off with our poorly pumpkins! They were super easy to carve (hats off to you super carvers) and we used all the seeds inside the pumpkins to make it look like they were being sick. Simple but effective and the kids are guaranteed to love it! Little miss Rosie sure did!

Sweets, Candy, treats and chocolate! Halloween is a time we can treat ourselves (along with Easter, Christmas, Birthdays and well…. a rough Monday) and as much as we love a healthy treat we went all out and made this SNAKES AND LADDERS sweet station!  Kids big and small will love creating something fun with sweets! We all know kids have amazingly creative imaginations and what a fun way to get into the spooky spirit!

Another easy peasy idea if you are having a Halloween party is to give out SWEET CONES. These are just piping bags filled with goodies and tied at the top with ribbon or pipe cleaners. An alternative to the usual party bags. And a craft idea for your party is to paint paper plates! This guy is too cool with his crepe paper hair do!

Did you know that YOU can win a CARNIVAL CRUISE! Carnival Cruise Line are the experts in fun! So many exciting activities on board including a Spooktastic halloween party. Each year Carnival hold huge festivities on the ship! So much fun for the whole family.
